
Dr. John H. Shao, MD, FACC, RPVI

Dr. Shao is the Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Columbia University Medical Center and the Director of Vein Center for our own North Jersey Cardiovascular Consultants practice. His clinical practice expertise, over past 10 years, includes cardiovascular medicine with a focus on atherosclerotic vascular disease and intervention throughout the circulation. This includes coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, carotid arterial disease, renovascular disease, and venous reflux disease and thrombosis. Dr. Shao’s experience leverages his knowledge in clinical cardiovascular medicine and complex coronary and peripheral vascular interventions. In addition, he is also well versed in structure heart disease, including treatment of aortic valve stenosis with TAVR, mitral valve regurgitation with Mitra-clip, and atrial fibrillation with left atrial appendage occlusive devices, ie LARIAT/Watchman. Dr. Shao graduated magna cum laude from State University of New York at Binghamtom, New York as a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and went on to earn his MD from Temple University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Lenox Hill Hospital and cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology fellowships and became a chief fellow at Westchester Medical Center, University Hospital of New York Medical College. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Endovascular Medicine. Dr. Shao is a member of Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, member of the Society of Vascular Medicine and member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.
